I am Josh Maccoy. Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. Graduate of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg (B.A. Pop Music Design). Since 2008, I have been standing professionally on stages and behind mixing consoles – from intimate studio sessions to shows in front of thousands.
My journey has led me through collaborations with artists such as Xavier Naidoo, Kosho (Söhne Mannheims), and Michelle Leonard. These years in the music business have trained my ear for what truly matters: the soul of a track.
The Evolution: From Musician to Audio Architect
Today, I bridge two worlds that many consider irreconcilable: over 20 years of traditional musical craftsmanship and the limitless power of Generative AI.
I no longer see myself simply as a songwriter and producer, but as an Audio Architect. I don’t view AI tools like Suno AI as a threat, but as the most powerful instruments of our time. I use them to mine sonic “diamonds in the rough” and refine them with the precision and music-theoretical background of a professional.
While algorithms calculate patterns, I decide on the goosebumps. I utilize AI for speed and leverage my songwriting and studio experience for depth, mixing, and industry-standard quality. The result: hybrid productions that are technologically at the cutting edge, yet possess the heart of a handmade song.
Mentor for the Music of Tomorrow
For two decades, I have been mentoring talents to help them make their visions audible. In this new era, I assist creators, musicians, and brands in understanding the complexity of AI music and using it as a catalyst for their own creative work.
A great teacher never stops being a student. And right now, the evolution of music is more exciting than ever before.
